About Bramacare
Bramacare is a pioneering, specialist service providing evidence-based rehabilitation for adults with severe and enduring eating disorders. Our patients often transition from long inpatient hospital stays, and our multidisciplinary team works holistically to help them reintegrate into the community and live meaningful, independent lives.
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and recovery-oriented Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our growing team and lead the development of our rehabilitation programme.
*Role Overview*
As a senior Occupational Therapist at Bramacare, you will play a central role in supporting patients to rebuild independence, identity, and purpose. Working with individuals experiencing complex mental health challenges related to eating disorders — including restrictive eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviours, trauma, anxiety, and difficulties with interoception — you will guide functional recovery through meaningful activity, structure, and skill-building.
You will also have the opportunity to supervise and lead a team of Activity Coordinators, ensuring the consistent delivery of therapeutic programmes that promote engagement, motivation, and community integration.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Conduct comprehensive functional and occupational assessments for all new admissions
* Develop individualised occupational therapy care plans in collaboration with the wider MDT
* Deliver group and 1:1 interventions
* Meal preparation and planning
* Sensory regulation and interoceptive awareness
* Body image and identity work
* Energy conservation and pacing
* Self-care and hygiene
* Volunteering, education, or vocational re-engagement
* Support patients with graded exposure around food-related and social anxiety
* Facilitate community access, travel training, and real-world skill development
* Contribute to discharge planning and liaise with community services, employers, and education providers
* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to CPA, MDT reviews, and CQC standards
* Lead, supervise, and support Activity Coordinators in delivering creative, evidence-based programmes
* Provide staff training and occupational therapy input into the Bramacare care model
* Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and service development initiatives
*What We’re Looking For*
Essential:
* BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
* Experience in mental health and eating disorders (inpatient or community) ideally bot not essential
* Understanding of the impact of eating disorders on function and quality of life
* Strong communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
* Ability to work creatively and flexibly with patients who may experience ambivalence or anxiety around recovery
Desirable:
* Sensory integration training or interest
* Experience with trauma-informed approaches
* Knowledge of DBT, CBT-E, or other evidence-based models
* Experience supporting transitions from inpatient to community care
