Chartwells, part of the Compass Group family, is excited to offer an opportunity for a Customer Service Assistant to join our vibrant team at Northumbria University's Coach Lane Campus.This is a 30-hour-per-week role, working five days out of seven (mainly Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend events), and is fixed-term until 31st May 2026.As a Customer Service Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our operation—delivering outstanding service to students and university staff alike. You'll work across a dynamic catering environment that includes a popular high-street coffee brand, a modern hot-food servery, and convenient vending outlets.We love food, love great events and are passionate about delivering the best.Key duties:Operate tills, taking card transactions and cash handling.Ensure displays are in line with SOPs.To demonstrate a can-do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations.Queue times are kept to a minimum.To acquire a good knowledge of all products in order to be able to advise individual customers on their product choice.Keeping on top of the units appearance by cleaning all work areas during and after use and removing all waste to the appropriate disposal area. Restocking vending machines ensuring stock rotationMaintain high standards of cleanliness for both the interior and exterior of the machines Report any maintenance issues with the machines promptly.
