Reports to: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Overview
The Kitchen Porter supports the smooth running of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with basic food preparation, and ensuring equipment and utensils are kept in good working order.
Key Responsibilities
* Cleaning & Hygiene
o Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment promptly and thoroughly.
o Keep kitchen areas, floors, and surfaces clean, safe, and hygienic.
o Dispose of waste and operate recycling processes according to guidelines.
* Food Preparation Support
o Assist chefs with basic food preparation (e.g., peeling, chopping, portioning).
o Unpack and store deliveries safely and efficiently.
o Ensure food storage areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
* Equipment & Stock
o Maintain dishwashing and cleaning equipment.
o Report any faults or damages.
o Assist with stock rotation.
* General Duties
o Follow health and safety and food hygiene regulations at all times.
o Support the wider kitchen team when needed, especially during busy service.
o Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by the Executive Head Chef
