An excellent opportunity is available for OccupationalTherapist to join the dynamic and supportive team at Princess AlexandraHospital NHS Trust, located in Harlow, Essex. This is based within the medicalOccupational Therapy team and offers the opportunity to work with a diversepatient populationfrom those who are critically unwell to individualsrequiring minimal rehabilitation or professional advice. In this role, you willbe responsible for delivering high-quality assessment, treatment, advice, andevaluation for patients referred to the acute inpatient Occupational TherapyService. In return, you will receive guidance and support to enhance yourclinical expertise and leadership capabilities as you progress in yourprofessional development.


Main duties of the job

As a vital member of the multi-disciplinaryteam, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Occupational Therapyservices to acute inpatients. You will manage a defined caseload, independentlycarrying out assessments, treatments, and evaluations for patients referred tothe service. Working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary andmulti-agency team, you will operate as an autonomous professional in line withthe Royal College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and ProfessionalConduct and the Health and Care Professions Council regulations. The roleinvolves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, carried out underthe indirect supervision of a senior Occupational Therapist. You will alsoactively participate in Continuing Professional Development and contribute tothe delivery and growth of in-service training programs.

This role requires total 18.75 hours per week asbelow:Mon to Fri, 8.30-12.00 (4 days) & 8.30-13.15 (1 day)

Job responsibilities

* To manage an agreed clinical caseload within amultidisciplinary framework, undertaking assessments using bothstandardised and non-standardised tools, formulating problem lists, and settinggoals tailored to the acute care setting.
* To select and implement appropriate OccupationalTherapy interventions, using a combination of rehabilitative, developmental,and compensatory techniques to help patients achieve optimal independence.
* To plan, prioritise, and manage your ownworkload effectively, including delegating tasks to Occupational TherapyAssistants and supervising students, ensuring timely and effective servicedelivery.
* To prepare both individual and group clinicalinterventions, accurately documenting treatment outcomes and updating care ordischarge plans based on clinical reasoning.
* To fit, adjust, and train patients in the safeuse of a variety of Occupational Therapy equipment and tools, while alsomaintaining responsibility for their condition and appropriate usage.
* To undertake and organise access and homevisits, advising on environmental adaptations that promote safety,functionality, and independence within the patients living space.
* To collaborate with patients, carers, and thewider MDT to identify and implement individualised strategies, ensuringtreatment aligns with both short-term needs and long-term rehabilitation goals.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Grad. Diploma and / or degree in Occupational therapy.
* HCPC Registration
* Experience in SystmOne
* Trained in Moving handling & BLS
* Experience in Acute Inpatients
