As part of this exciting Apprenticeship opportunity, you'll benefit from dedicated training time—at least 20% of your working hours—to help you successfully achieve the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, whilst also completing the British Academy of Graphic Design Diploma (BAGD). This structured learning is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in a Graphic Design and Print role, with full details available on the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) and BAGD websites. It’s a fantastic way to grow your career while making a real impact in local government. At the end of the apprenticeship you will have developed the necessary skills and experience to be able to: • Have a good working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite Software especially, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat. • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft software especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint. • Interpret customer requirements, suggest alternative options, and produce high quality artwork for internal and external production. • Create artwork that uses colour theory effectively and use colour schemes that are appropriate for different audiences. • Create artwork that makes effective use of typography. • Create artwork that incorporates photographs and graphics into the overall design. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): • Design & Production: Learn to design and prepare print-ready materials such as stationery, leaflets, posters, and publications for in-house or external production. • Customer Liaison: Communicate with internal customers to understand their needs and offer creative, practical solutions. • Print Operations: Operate and maintain photocopiers, multi-function devices, and print finishing equipment like guillotines and binding machines. • Administrative Support: Keep accurate records of work and assist with post room duties as needed. What You’ll Need (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): • Communication & Teamwork: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience working collaboratively in small teams and across all levels of the organisation. • Technical Skills: Strong ICT and keyboarding abilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and operating specialist finishing machinery. • Personal Attributes: Organised, reliable, accurate, and detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines and stay calm under pressure. • Learning & Initiative: Willingness to learn new skills, undertake training, and work independently with self-motivation and initiative. • Physical & Practical Abilities: Capable of manual tasks such as carrying materials and hand-finishing printed items. Apprenticeships are funded by the UK Government and there are some rules which we need to consider to establish eligibility for this opportunity. In particular: •You will have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship or fit the criteria of eligible residency status in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules. •You do not already hold the same or similar qualifications. The rules employers and training providers must follow to get funding for training and assessing apprentices in England.
