Job overview

The Trust is looking to appoint a Dispatch Team Leader in the Bedford EOC who will be primarily responsible for the efficient operation of the dispatching function in the EOC whilst on duty, and the effective and efficient deployment of resources, following a set deployment plan, in accordance with the needs of the service. The successful post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that EOC staff fulfil their roles to the standard set for their position within the EOC.

Previous experience as a Dispatcher and experience in motivating staff is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Dispatch Team Leader is primarily responsible for the efficient operation
of the dispatching function in the EOC whilst on duty, and the effective and
efficient deployment of resources following a set deployment plan in
accordance with the needs of the service. They are also responsible for
ensuring that EOC staff fulfil their roles to the standard set for their position
within the EOC.

Essential criteria

1. Experience of motivating staff successfully
2. CAD/VDU operation
3. Sound knowledge of EOC generic policies and procedures
4. Keyboard skills
5. Competent in the use of IT, eg Windows-based systems
6. Awareness of quality issues
7. Clear verbal and written communication skills.
8. Sound knowledge of EOC generic policies and procedures.
9. Commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

24. 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent qualification) including English
25. AMPDS qualified.

Desirable criteria

26. Management/supervisory qualification

28. Computer applications user qualification
29. Full driving licence
30. RSA Typing Level 1

Experience

Essential criteria

31. Previous Dispatcher experience.

Desirable criteria

32. Substantial supervisory experience.
