Responsibilities
* Dispensary Support
o Accurately label and dispense medicines in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
o Assist with prescription processing and maintain accurate records on the hospital system.
o Provide a helpful and professional service to patients and staff at the pharmacy reception.
* Stores & Stock Management
o Receive, check, and store pharmaceutical deliveries safely.
o Monitor stock levels, expiry dates, and rotate stock to minimise waste.
o Pick and pack medicines for wards and clinics, ensuring timely delivery.
* Ward Support
o Participate in ward top‑up systems to maintain stock levels.
o Liaise with ward teams to ensure medicines are available when needed.
* General Duties
o Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
o Handle enquiries professionally and refer queries appropriately.
o Support over‑labelling and pre‑packing of medicines.
o Contribute to audits and service improvements.
o Participate in weekend and bank holiday rotas as required.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Good general standard of education demonstrating numeracy and literacy
* Willing to complete a comprehensive training and competency programme.
* Willing to complete Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services.
Desirable criteria
* Level 2 in Pharmacy Services.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
* Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a team both alone and under supervision.
* Able to work effectively under pressure.
* Computer literate.
Desirable criteria
* Basic knowledge of stock control / stock rotation.
* Previous experience of working in a pharmacy.
* Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment.
* Previous experience of working face‑to‑face with customers / patients.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
