NHS GG&C Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS) are pleased to advertise a Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist role across Glasgow City Older People's Community Mental Health Teams (OP-CMHT's). This is a peripatetic post with input based across teams in Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). Input will be determined based on clinical need, however locations are either in the South, North West or North East of Glasgow city.
The post holder would be a valued member of a Multidisciplinary mental health team comprising of Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Health and Business support colleagues. Each team has established Clinical Psychology input.
The post holder would enhance the existing resource to allow the delivery of highly specialist Psychological therapies care and Neuropsychological assessment in a timely and efficient manner.
The post holder would also have a dedicated remit to support Glasgow City HSCP Acute Hospital Liaison MDT staff to recognise and respond to the Psychological needs of Older People during a hospital admission. Input will be consultation based or provision of 1-1 Psychological Intervention post discharge.
This post provides an excellent career opportunity for those with interest and enthusiasm for working with Older People to contribute to the delivery of high quality psychological care in community settings. There are regular opportunities to contribute to service development, audit and research priorities. The Older People's Psychology Service are a board wide department who value collaboration and development of staff within their roles.
The post holder is required provide a specialised clinical psychology service which supports the development and delivery of psychological interventions and therapies (PI/PTs) to Older People across all sectors of care; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
This post sits within the NHS GG&C Older People's Psychology Service (OPPS). OPPS provides a highly specialist service to older people within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area. The mental health arm of the service is delivered through participation in Community Mental Health Teams for Older People around the health board area. The department also includes the GG&C Older People's Mental Health In-patient Psychology Team (OPIP); a Care Home Liaison Psychology Service in Glasgow HSCP; and the OPTIMAL Team, tasked with widening access to evidence-based PI/PTs across GG&C.
Professional and operational management is via the Older People's Psychology Service and the Psychology Directorate. The post reports to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership.
