Job Description:

Post: consultant in psychiatry of learning disability
Base: WEST DUNBARTONSHIRE hscp (CLYDEBANK HEALTH CENTRE AND BLYTHSWOOD HOUSE INPATIENT UNIT, RENFREW)
Applications are invited for this 0.85 FTE post in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde to replace a vacancy from December 2025. You will work with adults with learning disability, providing psychiatric input to a multidisciplinary team of specialist healthcare and social work professionals of a Health & Social Care Partnership with additional input to our board wide specialist learning disability inpatient service. The post will primarily be based in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire HSCP with 2 sessions inpatient work based in Blythswood House Inpatient Unit, Renfrew. The post includes 1.5 SPA.
NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde serves a total population of 1.2 million. The learning disability psychiatry team includes 13 Consultants, 1 Academic, 1 Specialty Grade Doctor and trainees. There is an active CPD and medical audit programme within LD psychiatry that the applicant would be expected to attend and contribute to.
Applicants should be registered and licensed by the GMC, be an Approved Medical Practitioner for the Mental Health (care & treatment) Scotland Act, and should hold (or be within 6 months of achieving a) CCT in Psychiatry of Learning Disability.
Funding is only available for 0.85 FTE, however additional sessions in either LD psychiatry or GA psychiatry are often available within the health board and applicants seeking a full time post are encouraged to apply.
