Your Role: We support people who have autism, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries. Support looks different from person to person and therefore so does every Support Workers role, with different working patterns and day to day tasks depending on who you are supporting. However there are some core aspects and values of being a Support Worker at Options; you will: Support and encourage people to take part in the things that they enjoy Support people in the day-to-day tasks involved in ordinary living, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, attending appointments or managing finances Enable people to achieve their full potential and support them to fulfil their wishes, expressed day-by-day and identified in their Person Centred Plans and other Key Documents Understand and respect the relationships which are important to people supported Promote independence and empower those you support to do things independently Empower people you support to reach their aspirations and goals beyond the day to day To provide any aspects of personal care to those that need it, you could be supporting someone by communicating prompts or reminders or physically supporting with their hygienic needs Maintain records and effective communication with members of your team to ensure we are collaboratively providing the best support Supporting people to use public transport or driving their mobility adapted vehicles for them to access their local communities You could be supporting some aspects of physical activity i.e. using hoists, pushing wheelchairs or supporting people to take long walks or any other exercise that they might enjoy A full UK driving license and willingness to drive at work is essential for this post. Applicants without a full UK license will not be considered at this time.
