Job summary: A fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic & highly motivated Clinical Psychologist / neuropsychologist to contribute to the development of a neuropsychological pathway across West Dorset Stroke & Neuro inpatient services. You will have the opportunity to apply your extensive experience in clinical & neuropsychology with patients who have experienced a stroke & also with neurological conditions within teams that provide rehabilitation to adults to maximise their independence & to improve their quality of life. In your role, you'll help patients' seamless transition from hospital to rehabilitation in the community; support MDT formulation for complex cases; provide education & supervision for members of the team involved in assessment & intervention & provide expert clinical input for complex cases across the Stroke & Neuro units at Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester (DCH) specifically HASU.
You will have opportunities to apply innovation & flexibility as new pathways develop. In partnership with the Neuropsychology Clinical Lead & other stakeholders you will enjoy contributing your clinical psychology expertise in specialist assessments and interventions as part of a number of Stroke and neuro Multidisciplinary teams (MDT).
This role is based at DCH and the Yeatman Hospital, Sherborne but travel across the county might be required to meet other service needs.

Main duties of the job
This job is evolving alongside lots of change in Dorset stroke & neuro services so resilience will be needed by the post holder as well as the ability to support others within the team to be resilient.
To provide a specific clinical psychology service to people with stroke & neurological conditions.
To support & strengthen a distributed model of psychological care provided by the Stroke Specialist MDT
To deliver effective, evidence based & expert clinical neuropsychological & clinical psychological assessments & interventions to people with stroke and neurological conditions & associated comorbid conditions.
To provide & facilitate MDT clinical formulations integrating highly complex variables which may change over time.
To offer advice & consultation on clients' clinical psychological/neuropsychological situation to all members of the MDT, to other relevant people including family and carers.
To utilise research skills for audits, policy & service developments.
To work scientifically and apply research as part of the clinical approach of the service.

Qualifications & Experience
Education/Qualification – Essential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
* Substantial post-grad training in neuropsychology as part of the qualifications in clinical psychology
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS; Willingness and readiness to work towards the Qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN).
* Commencement/completion (partially or fully) of QiCN qualification
Experience – Essential
* Experience of complex specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
* Experience of working with adults with acquired brain injury, stroke, neurological and mental health problems
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
Driver – Essential
* Full driving licence and access to a car
Management/Leadership – Essential
* Significant experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
Stroke & Neurology Experience – Essential
* Demonstrable experience of at least 4 years of working with stroke and neurological patients in a relevant area
