The Bridge SARC provides support for individuals in Avon and Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire, and Gloucestershire who have experienced sexual abuse and rape at any point in their lives.
We are seeking an experienced counsellor to join our team of counsellors and psychologists to contribute to a pilot project delivering trauma-informed brief interventions to women in prison who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence. Additionally, the post involves offering therapy to clients in the Avon and Somerset area who have recently been raped or sexually assaulted. The successful candidate will work closely with a specialist psychologist, voluntary and community sector partners such as SARSAS, prison teams, statutory and community services, and the wider SARC multidisciplinary team.
Sessions are delivered both in person and remotely. The position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) Enhanced Level 2 Vetting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accountability to clinical supervisor, professional accrediting body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC, NCS), SARC Lead, and SARC Manager for clinical practice, risk management, and ethical standards.
2. Practice in accordance with the BACP ethical framework and Bridge policies.
3. Provide specialist therapy to individuals disclosing sexual assault.
4. Refer clients to other services for assessment or treatment as needed.
5. Assess and manage care, protection, and risk issues, following safeguarding and ethical guidelines in consultation with supervisors and managers.
6. Attend regular clinical supervision and peer consultations.
7. Contribute to initiatives promoting service user voice in service evaluation and development.
8. Participate in CPD relevant to SARC services.
9. Contribute to audit, evaluation, and research activities related to SARC services.
10. Provide and participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice.
11. Assist in developing and delivering training for professionals.
