VANRATH are delighted to be assisting a major client with the Recruitment of an Experienced Transport Planning Manager to join an experienced and dynamic team based in Greysteel.
Salary - Negotiable + Benefits Package
7.30am to 6.00pm Monday - Friday.
Saturday (overtime on rota basis)
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Oversight:
2. Provide overall leadership and management of the Distribution Department, including domestic drivers and routing teams across all locations.
3. Routing & Compliance:
4. Ensure efficient routing and scheduling of vehicles in full compliance with driver hours regulations and the Working Time Directive.
5. Interdepartmental Coordination:
6. Maintain effective communication with other transport locations and collaborate with Sales teams to align on delivery schedules and service expectations.
7. Operational Monitoring:
8. Supervise daily transport operations to guarantee safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of products in compliance with Health & Safety and environmental standards.
9. Regulatory Compliance:
10. Monitor driver hours, breaks, and tachograph data to ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation.
11. Administrative Oversight:
12. Manage driver rotas, timesheet analysis, and daily operational checks; ensure all necessary departmental documentation is completed accurately and on time.
13. Staff Management:
14. Oversee annual leave and driver absences, working closely with the HR department to ensure appropriate cover and operational continuity.
15. Recruitment & Onboarding:
16. Collaborate with HR on recruitment activities, including interviews, driver inductions, training, and issuing of PPE.
17. Incident Reporting & Escalation:
18. Inform the Operations Director promptly of any road traffic accidents (RTAs) or vehicle maintenance issues.
19. Disciplinary Procedures & Investigations:
20. Document and investigate transport-related misdemeanours, ensuring all incidents-such as RTAs, contamination, spillage, damage, or misconduct-are logged and appropriately resolved.
21. Depot Management:
22. Oversee depot operations including product storage, water dips, meter checks, tank gauging, and product labelling to ensure compliance with quality system standards.
Essential Criteria:
23. Previous experience working a supervisory role within the transport sector.
24. Thorough knowledge of transport Regulations and Compliance
25. Possession of category C + E license, ADR License & CPC (desirable)
26. Excellent geographic knowledge of Northern Ireland and familiar with planning/scheduling systems (desirable)
