Position: In-House Solicitor – Criminal Prosecutions
Location: Cambridgeshire / Hybrid (2–3 days in office based)
Salary Guide: £55,000 – £65,000 per annum + bonus + excellent benefits
Role Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are working with a leading organisation on a unique In-House opportunity for a Solicitor with a specialism in criminal regulatory/prosecutions. This is to join a high performing and collaborative in-house legal team.
In this newly created role, you’ll play a pivotal part in bringing prosecutions against offenders breaching infrastructure related legislation, while also advising on and supporting the defence of sustainability related enforcement actions. This is a varied and impactful position with genuine scope to influence outcomes across a regulated, purpose-driven business.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead on criminal prosecutions relating to misuse of infrastructure, from case assessment to support of courtroom advocacy.
* Assist in responding to and defending against regulatory enforcement proceedings.
* Evaluate and manage evidential material and legal risk with clear commercial judgement.
* Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and regulators to ensure legally robust outcomes.
* Play a key role in reducing environmental impact and supporting the business’s sustainability mission.
Candidate profile:
* UK Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
* Strong background in criminal prosecution with solid experience managing the end-to-end prosecution process, including evidence assessment, case preparation, charging decisions, and conducting or instructing advocacy in criminal proceedings.
* Advocacy experience highly desirable.
* Self-sufficient with a commercially mindset.
* Excellent communication and legal analysis skills.
* A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
