Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum, pro rata.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate nurse to join our dynamic and hard‑working team within Gynae‑oncology. This Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist role is for experienced nurses wishing to specialise in oncology and work as part of a supportive, multi‑professional team.
You will be based within Oncology Outpatients, working with Radiotherapy, Oncology Day Unit, Cancer Assessment unit and inpatient wards. You will work closely with the band 7, band 6 staff and larger MDT to deliver holistic, patient‑centred care to individuals with gynae‑oncological cancers.
Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of patients, coordinating and streamlining their care from referral through active treatment, surveillance and transition to supportive care.
* Provide specialist advice, support and education about symptoms and side effects of cancer treatments.
* Conduct telephone triage with appropriate escalation and follow‑up.
* Work independently to formulate nurse‑led plans of care.
* Keep up to date with developments in cancer care and treatments.
* Act as recognised expert in the speciality, responsible for assessment, development and implementation of specialist nursing care.
* Communicate effectively with MDT members and other departments across the trust.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willing to undertake.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Advanced communication or counselling qualification, or willingness to undertake.
* Research module, Master’s Degree, teaching qualification, or advanced clinical assessment (any of these as applicable).
Experience
* Significant relevant experience in Gynae‑oncology or gynae‑surgical specialty demonstrating expert nursing skills.
* Clinical Nurse Specialist experience.
* Personal accountability for own practice.
* Formal or informal teaching experience.
* Experience initiating change.
* Nurse‑led clinic experience.
* Experience within NHS.
