Manufacturing Engineer (Equipment Maintenance)Great YarmouthPerm £45KAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our maintenance team within a fast-paced microelectronics manufacturing environment.This role is critical in supporting the reliability, performance, and continuous operation of a wide range of laser systems and associated Electronic production equipment used throughout the manufacturing process.The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair, calibration, and safe operation of laser equipment ranging from legacy systems through to modern state-of-the-art platforms. Working closely with engineering, production, and health & safety teams, you will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving equipment performance, and ensuring compliance with all safety standards and procedures.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on technical problem solving in a highly specialised manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLaser Systems Maintenance & SupportCarry out routine preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial laser systems and associated equipmentDiagnose faults and perform repairs on laser systems spanning multiple generations of technologySupport installation, commissioning, calibration, and validation activities for new and existing laser equipmentMaintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and documentation in accordance with company proceduresLiaise with equipment manufacturers and external service providers where requiredFault Finding & RepairPerform detailed electrical and electronic fault finding to component levelTroubleshoot complex electro-mechanical, optical, and control system issuesIdentify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and uptimeAssist in developing preventative maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiativesLaser Safety & ComplianceAct as, or support, the Laser Safety Officer (LSO) function within the businessEnsure laser systems operate in compliance with relevant safety regulations, standards, and internal proceduresConduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits relating to laser equipment and maintenance activitiesPromote a strong safety culture across engineering and manufacturing teamsElectrical Inspection & TestingCarry out inspection and testing of electrical equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and company proceduresUndertake PAT testing activities and maintain associated recordsSupport compliance activities relating to electrical installations and equipment certificationGeneral Engineering SupportWork collaboratively with manufacturing, process engineering, and maintenance teams to minimise production downtimeParticipate in continuous improvement and equipment upgrade projectsProvide technical guidance and support to colleagues and operators where requiredEnsure all work is completed in line with quality standards, engineering best practices, and health & safety requirementsConduct software backups on critical equipmentQualificationsHNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualificationCity & Guilds Level 2/3 for the Inspection & Testing of Electrical EquipmentPAT Testing qualification and practical experienceExperience & SkillsEssentialExperience in routine maintenance, fault finding, and repair of laser systems OR ElectronicsIdeally experience working with laser systems ranging from legacy equipment to current technologiesStrong electronics fault-finding and repair capabilityGood understanding of electrical and electronic systemsUnderstanding of health & safety legislation and engineering best practicesDesirableExperience within microelectronics, semiconductor, or high-precision manufacturing industriesKnowledge of electro-mechanical systems, automation, or control systemsPersonal AttributesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamTPBN1_UKTJ
