Job overview

An exciting opportunity has presented for a pharmacist to join our cancer pharmacy team. We are looking to recruit to the post of Specialist Pharmacist Cancer Services who will play a pivotal role in managing the pharmacy service provided to cancer patients.

The pharmacy cancer team is well integrated into the cancer directorate and provides a high-quality and progressive pharmacy service to cancer patients. You will have opportunities to develop your general and specialist skills in providing multi-disciplinary Cancer Services.


Responsibilities

* manage the day-to-day delivery of, and support the development of, clinical pharmacy services to cancer patients
* provide safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of medicines to cancer patients
* work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and undertake an active role in the safe provision of medicines to cancer patients

The post will provide comprehensive cancer clinical and technical pharmacy experience through a competency based training. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be working closely with Haematologists, Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Chemotherapy Nurses, in a broad range of clinical haematology and oncology specialties and settings including inpatient wards, day-care and outpatient clinics.

To maintain and further develop the pharmacy service to cancer patients, we are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist to join our lively, progressive and dynamic pharmacy team. Our ideal candidate will be:

* interested in helping us develop and deliver our vision for a patient-focussed clinical pharmacy service
* able to drive directorate and departmental clinical governance issues, clinical audit, practice research, service improvement projects and more
* keen to further their career within cancer services

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

* Masters Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
* Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

* Completed SACT passport
* Qualified Independent Prescriber

Experience Essential

* Good, broad clinical knowledge of various specialities
* Some experience of providing training, mentorship and supervising staff
* Relevant post-graduate experience
* Documented evidence of completed project work, audit and practice research
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Apply knowledge to practice & willing to take professional responsibility

Desirable

* Leadership and management experience
* Previous experience in cancer services

Skills, Abilities and Attributes Essential

* Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written. Ability to deal with complex and difficult emotional situations
* Ability to convey information to patients who may be distressed or have barriers to understanding
* Good interpersonal skills. Confident and assertive when working with other professionals
* Ability to work quickly, calmly and accurately under pressure
* Ability to work on own initiative & Ability to work in a team
* Self-motivated & enthusiastic
