Overview
Our client an established organisation is seeking a Data Protection Manager to join its Operations function. This is a key role for an experienced data protection professional who can combine strategic understanding with hands‑on implementation across multiple business areas.
Working collaboratively across multiple teams, including Risk, Compliance and the Data Protection Officer, you’ll ensure a consistent and effective approach to privacy and data protection across the organisation.
Duties
* Act as the main point of contact for data protection and privacy within Operations.
* Ensure operational processes comply with UK GDPR and internal data protection policies.
* Maintain and update Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs).
* Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), lawful processing, retention, and consent.
* Identify, assess and mitigate data protection risks within operational processes and supplier relationships.
* Support the management and reporting of data protection incidents and personal data breaches.
* Deliver targeted training and awareness sessions to embed a culture of privacy by design.
* Stay informed on emerging AI and automated decision‑making regulations and their impact on data protection.
Qualifications
* Strong leadership with demonstrable skills. Deep technical understanding of risk methodologies, risk related control frameworks and the ability to drive and deliver implementation.
* Proven stakeholder management capability. Experience supporting risk assessments, incident response, and compliance reporting.
* In depth knowledge of UK GDPR and related data protection legislation.
* Strong analytical skills with strong attention to detail. Good awareness of information governance, data protection and confidentiality issues.
* A relevant data protection qualification (e.g. CIPP / E, CIPM, or BCS Practitioner Certificate) is desirable but not essential.
* Excellent MS Office skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
