At this exciting time in Solihull, we are developing a range of specialist areas, to ensure we are able to apply psychology at a wider systems level.

We are therefore looking to appoint a permanent Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist to support us in delivering our vision and priorities.

As this vacancy is part time, you will be able to balance this role with your personal commitments and / or consultancy-based work.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced EP who has knowledge and experience in a specialist area of interest, both at the frontline and systemically, someone who is committed to making a real difference for our children and young people.

As the service is young, we are able to consider a variety of specialisms, so applicants can share their expertise and vision freely.

Solihull Educational Psychology Service (SEPS), part of the integrated SEND Operations Service, is a friendly and highly supportive service where collaboration and peer supervision is truly valued.

Our role as EPs in Solihull takes us into exciting, applied psychology territory with schools, families and the wider community. Recent examples include our work in social inclusion with Specialist Inclusion Support, a new ELSA programme, parent development workshops and our Trauma Informed project with the Virtual School.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team of professionals who value the transformative power of psychology, applied research and professional practice that promotes creativity.

We are proud of our strong links with colleagues across the local authority, schools and health, and joint work with our colleagues has enabled us to address some of the challenges faced by our children, young people and their families.

In Solihull, you will be given the autonomy and dedicated time to undertake project work to develop your expertise in your own area of professional interest within applied psychology, such as developing training or undertaking new commissions with other local agencies.

We will balance your needs with the needs of our service, enabling you to work flexibly from home, or in modern shared office spaces. You will also be provided with a laptop and mobile phone, to strengthen our culture of accessibility and support.

We recognise the need to maintain our strong and supportive team relationships in an increasingly agile working environment by promoting regular quality supervision and shared team learning through regular team meetings and social events for those who wish to get involved.

Solihull EPS also has close relationships with both local and national educational psychology training courses. We truly value purposeful CPD at all levels and the promotion of research in practice, demonstrated by our clear commitment to whole service CPD and protected personal CPD time.

For this role, you will need an Honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the British Psychological Society, recognised postgraduate training and a qualification in Educational Psychology. You must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Informal enquiries to Jane Sowter (Principal Educational Psychologist) – jane.sowter@solihull.gov.uk.
