Job Description:
This is a fast paced and intensive working environment, and if you are energetic, enthusiastic and interested in driving forward the College’s commitment to automation of all payroll functions, this could be the role for you.
Salary Details: BS26-BS29, currently £31,650 to £35,166 per annum
Hours of Work: 37 hours per week over 5 days
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per year (increasing to 32 days for 5 years+ service) plus 8 Bank Holidays & College closure days per annum
Qualifications: A financially relevant level 4 professional qualification is highly desirable. If not held, the level 4 Diploma in Payroll Management to be undertaken and achieved within an agreed timescale
Experience: It is essential to have significant recent experience of payroll functions and calculations. It is also essential to have excellent IT, communications, numerical and literacy skills, together with the ability to set your own priorities, work flexibly and work on your own initiative
Working closely with the Human Resources team, the College’s Financial Accountant and the Payroll Budgeting Officer you will primarily be responsible for paying all employees of the institution accurately and on time. Additionally, you will:
* Ensure processes and procedures meet relevant regulations and that payroll records and documentation are compliant with HMRC requirements including annual returns
* Manage the accurate calculation and payment of all statutory and occupational entitlement for all staff as required in line with legislation and contractual requirements
* Calculate and submit pension contributions, annual returns and relevant employee changes to the College’s pensions providers
* Manage Auto-Enrolment requirements as required by legislation and the pension providers
* Take responsibility and deal with all payroll related queries from employees and providers, ensuring effective resolution and escalating if necessary
* Provide the Accounts department with relevant reports showing financial and statistical information to meet College and statutory reporting needs
* Administrate the payroll software system ensuring an efficient provision of service which is fit for purpose
* Produce reports based on payroll data and provide management information as required
* Line manage the Payroll and Budgeting Officer
Flexible working to very set deadlines is essential, as is awareness that annual leave must be organised in accordance with Payroll priorities.
