Purpose of the role

Company Focal Point for Air Traffic Management expertise, civil and military.

Key customer-facing representative, with an ethos for high service quality and very positive end-user satisfaction as a key driver in all aspects of the job.

Responsible for ATM requirements definition and provision of subject matter expertise, ensuring that Micro Nav products and services are, where appropriate, consistent with current international practices and conventions.

To provide training on Micro Nav products and services to customers and Micro Nav personnel.

Act as the link between MNL’s customers and engineering staff to facilitate properly articulated Customer specifications.

Key Duties And Responsibilities


ATC Expert (SME) Responsibilities:

1. Maintain current knowledge of international civil and military ATC procedures and techniques as adapted and applied in operational use, whether for Aerodrome, Approach or Area application.
2. Maintain an overall knowledge of military Air Defence / Fighter Control techniques and capabilities to ensure that MNL’s Fighter Control product remains fit for purpose.
3. Understand ICAO Doc 4444 and PAN OPS for aircraft operations, as amended, and their application to ATC simulation tools.
4. Be aware of Eurocontrol and FAA regional strategies for future ATM.
5. Develop and maintain a good understanding of Micro Nav products, competitors, and identify product development opportunities.
6. Ensure Micro Nav developments align with design definitions and Customer requirements, and operate as intended.
7. Ensure key data items (airspace, airfields, aircraft performance) are accurate and correctly specified.
8. Identify enhancements to Micro Nav products to improve usability from a simulation perspective.
9. Support sales and marketing in bid compliance, demonstrations, and customer activities.
10. Assist bid teams in analyzing RFPs and bid requirements, and help develop accurate resource and cost estimates.
11. Support project teams in articulating planned developments and participate in design reviews and testing.
12. Coordinate with customers to understand and specify requirements for development.
13. Assess engineering change proposals for accurate costing and pricing.
14. Provide advice on ATC operational practices and industry developments.
15. Provide ATC induction training to new staff and support internal training.
16. Ensure specifications for development activities are created in conjunction with Engineering.
17. Represent MNL during on-site activities and act as liaison during requirements gathering.
18. Obtain customer agreement on Functional Specifications and review Solution Analysis documents.
19. Maintain and control specification data within the QMS and ensure compliance with the QMS.


Instructor Responsibilities

1. Travel to deliver Micro Nav BEST simulator training courses globally.
2. Determine necessary training for operating BEST and related products.
3. Maintain and develop courseware for different user levels, aligned with product updates.
4. Engage in professional development to stay current in ATM, ABM, and Airside Operations.
5. Write training plans and syllabi to meet customer requirements.
6. Complete bid compliance statements and develop training estimates.
7. Support sales and marketing through demonstrations, exhibitions, and customer engagement.
8. Identify opportunities to sell additional training/services and gather customer feedback on training.


Technical Requirements

1. Hold or have held an Air Traffic Controller License or equivalent.
2. Proven managerial, organizational, and planning skills.
3. Ability to work to ISO 9001 standards.
4. Knowledge of training methods and techniques.
5. Experience with BEST and Micro Nav products.
6. Proficiency in MS Office and PC-based systems.
7. Ability to travel globally to customer sites.


Education and Experience

1. Good education with excellent communication and presentation skills.
2. ATC operational experience as a licensed or equivalent controller.
3. Exposure to international ATC practices.
4. Experience in customer-facing roles and developing customer requirements.
5. Experience with system and procedures development in simulation environments.
6. Advisory or consulting experience in international ATC procedures.
7. Qualification in learning and development is desirable.
8. Experience with ATC training and simulation.
