TheDomiciliary Phlebotomist is responsible for visiting housebound or vulnerablepatients in their homes to collect blood samples safely and professionally onbehalf of the GP practice. The role includes specimen handling, accuratedocumentation, infection prevention, and maintaining high standards of patientcare while working independently in the community. Phlebotomy clinics in the practice may also be needed depending on the need of the practice.
Additional hours maybe required to cover holidays and sickness

To represent the practice in the community by visiting patients who are unable to attend the practice to collect blood samples.
To carry out phlebotomy clinics in practice if needed.

We are a friendly, forward thinking Practice who provide care to just over 9000 patients in the local area. We are also a training practice helping to train new GP's.
We have 3 partners, 4 salaried GPs, 4 nurses, 3 health care assistants, multiple reception/administrators and a array of ARRS roles.
Job responsibilities
* Visit patients in their homes according to theschedule provided by the GP surgery.
* Perform venepuncture procedures safely andcompetently.
* Identify patients correctly using approvedprotocols.
* Label and handle blood samples accurately inline with laboratory requirements.
* Ensure timely transport or delivery ofspecimens to the surgery.
* Maintain accurate clinical records usingelectronic patient systems.
* Follow infection prevention and controlprocedures at all times.
* Dispose of sharps and clinical waste safelyaccording to policy.
* Maintain stock levels of phlebotomy suppliesand equipment.
* Escalate safeguarding, clinical, or welfareconcerns appropriately.
* Communicate professionally with patients,carers, district nurses, GPs, and other healthcare professionals.
* Work independently while adhering tolone-working procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPRand NHS information governance standards.
* Participate in mandatory training, audits, andservice improvement activities.
* Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post asrequested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
Person Specification
Experience
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently in the community.
* Experience working in primary care or community healthcare.
* Experience with elderly, frail, or housebound patients.
* Knowledge of NHS/community services.

Qualifications
* Phlebotomy qualification or competency-based training.
* Understanding of infection control and health & safety procedures.

* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Care certificate or healthcare assistant background.
