Job Title: Programme Manager in Business
Type: Full-time, On-site, Leeds Campus
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Position Overview
The Programme Manager for Business provides academic and operational leadership for the delivery, quality and continuous enhancement of Business programmes at William College’s Leeds Campus. Working closely with the Dean and teaching teams, you will ensure that programmes are delivered to the highest academic and professional standards, aligned with awarding university requirements and responsive to developments in higher education and industry practice.
Alongside programme leadership, you will contribute to teaching within your area of expertise, delivering engaging and professionally relevant learning that supports student success.
This role bridges strategic oversight and day to day management, supporting lecturers and senior lecturers in maintaining academic excellence and ensuring that teaching, learning and assessment remain innovative, engaging and professionally relevant.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
* Deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching on Business modules at undergraduate level.
* Contribute to curriculum design and enhancement, ensuring learning, teaching and assessment reflect current professional and industry practice.
* Develop and update learning materials, assessments and digital resources using platforms such as Moodle and MS Teams.
* Provide academic guidance, feedback and support to students to enable progression, achievement and professional development.
* Engage in peer observation and contribute to the continuous enhancement of teaching quality across the Business subject area.
Academic Leadership and Quality Enhancement:
* Lead the coordination and academic delivery of Business programmes, ensuring alignment with awarding university regulations, programme specifications and internal quality frameworks.
* Work collaboratively with the Dean to oversee curriculum review, programme development and enhancement initiatives.
* Monitor student performance data and feedback to identify trends and inform improvements in teaching and learning.
* Oversee moderation, verification and assessment processes to ensure academic integrity and consistency.
* Contribute to annual monitoring, self-evaluation and quality improvement planning.
Programme Operations and Student Experience:
* Manage day to day operations of Business programmes, including timetabling, workload planning and assessment schedules.
* Ensure effective communication and collaboration among academic teams to maintain consistent delivery and high-quality student experience.
* Coordinate examination boards, student progress reviews and other academic meetings.
* Monitor student engagement and progression, implementing support strategies to improve retention, achievement and completion rates.
* Build relationships with employers and professional bodies to strengthen the employability focus of the curriculum and enhance student outcomes.
Academic Team Leadership and Governance:
* Provide day to day academic leadership for lecturers and senior lecturers within the Business team.
* Lead regular team meetings, ensuring effective planning, coordination and a shared commitment to student success.
* Support staff induction, mentoring and professional development to maintain high teaching standards.
* Contribute to internal governance processes, including programme boards, exam boards and academic committees.
* Ensure compliance with institutional and external regulatory requirements, including OfS, QAA and awarding partner expectations.
* Maintain accurate programme records and reports in line with institutional policies and data protection legislation.
Person Specification
Essential:
* A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business or a closely related discipline.
* Proven experience in programme or module leadership within higher education.
* Strong understanding of academic quality assurance, monitoring, and enhancement processes.
* Experience managing or coordinating teaching teams and academic workloads.
* Knowledge of UK higher education regulatory frameworks (OfS, QAA) and awarding partner expectations.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to use data and feedback to drive continuous improvement in programme delivery and student outcomes.
* Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
Desirable:
* A doctoral qualification (PhD or equivalent professional doctorate).
* A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCHE, FHEA).
* Experience working with a franchised or validated university partner.
* Familiarity with VLEs and digital teaching tools (e.g., Moodle, MS Teams).
* Experience improving student engagement, retention, and completion rates.
* Professional or industry experience in a relevant business field.
