A great opportunity is now available to support the team in the delivery of the Pre-Assessment service within Hampshire Hospitals.
The role is a primary function supporting the team for the optimal care of our surgical patients. The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to the patients of the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust is the most important objective for the organisation.
We currently undertake elective surgery Pre-Assessments for 13 specialities within the Trust. We have three Pre-Assessment Departments working collaboratively in order to provide a high standard of care for our patients.
This role will enable the development of clinical practice, knowledge and skills whilst undertaking independent comprehensive assessments of patients undergoing elective surgery.
The role may be based in Winchester or Andover and cross site working may be required as part of this role.
Main duties of the job
1. To assess patients past and current medical history, medications and treatments.
2. Undertake appropriate tests to ensure investigation of patient's fitness for surgery is optimised.
3. Make referrals to internal and external agencies to liaise regarding patients needs.
4. You will be required to use investigative, analytical and interpretation skills in order to ensure patients are safe for anaesthetic.
5. Liaising closely with the Surgical and Anaesthetic Teams, Secretaries, Theatre Schedulers and Admission Teams throughout HHFT.
6. To develop clinically reasoned decision making, treatment, action and discharge plans and to undertake and evaluate treatment.
7. To deputise for the team leaders to achieve the effective daily management of the ward/department including responding to urgent requests, prioritising clinical work and balancing other patient related and professional activities in accordance with trust standards

10. Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience
