Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Clinical Lead Community Dental Service post includes having advanced knowledge, clinical skills & expertise demonstrated by a postgraduate dental qualification &/or relevant experience in Special Care or Paediatric Dentistry, to lead the service. The post holder will, contribute to the planning & development of the service and of colleagues, whilst monitoring performance & activity alongside the Clinical Service Manager an Operational Manager.

NHS Medical and Dental salaries are set at a national level. For new starters not already working to UK Medical and Dental terms and conditions of service will be appointed to the minimum paypoint. The starting salary paypoint can only be increased when there is evidence of relevant, completed years' experience in terms of nature, type and level of role. The evidence required to increase a starting salary would be Payslips and details noted in the application form i.e. complete employment history

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GDC qualification
* BDS qualification or equivalent
* Inclusion as a Specialist in Special Care Dentistry or Paediatric Dentistry on the GDC register.
Knowledge & Skills
* Knowledge of the roles & responsibilities of a salaried dentist in providing dental treatment to children, young people & adults with additional/complex needs relevant to the specialty.
* Demonstrate current & previous CPD relevant to Specialist & General GDC registration.
* Understand the role of safeguarding & appropriate information sharing.
* Understand the consent process & management of patients who lack capacity to consent to their own treatment.
* Ability to recognise the need to seek advice & support appropriately
* Knowledge of wider dental agenda.
* Knowledge of clinical governance agenda
* Knowledge of financial framework for the financial modelling of specialist care
* Clinical competencies for specialist dentists as determined by the Royal Colleges and accepted by the GDC

£97,769 to £112,360 a year (dependant on experience)
