About the Role

Coombes Croft is a 3 bedded accessible and equipped children’s home, it provides specialist overnight respite care for children aged 8-18 with a learning disability, physical disability and complex needs. Respite care at Coombes Croft will provide a lifeline for families, giving parents some much needed space and time, helping them to recharge and the chance to have a short break from providing full-time care and support care to their child. The registered manager will be responsible for the management and operational delivery of Coombes Croft Respite Home, and to oversee the implementation of standards as required by Ofsted.

You will be accountable for delivering high quality care to the children and young people staying in the home. You will be responsible for the delivery of all the care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the home, and all day-to-day management matters including the safety and welfare of the children, staffing matters, budget manager. You will demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure, oversee the delivery of child centred practice and build on the well-established principles and practice standards existing within Haringey council’s children’s services and proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of the home.


About You

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and either possess or be willing to work toward a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. They will demonstrate proficient literacy and numeracy skills, and a strong understanding of compliance with regulatory frameworks, including Ofsted inspection guidelines and the Children’s Homes Regulations (2015). A sound knowledge of operational management within service provision and experience in senior-level roles supporting children and/or adults with disabilities are essential, alongside a commitment to registering as a manager with Ofsted.

This role requires a dynamic leader with proven expertise in service development, performance management, and multi-agency collaboration. The ideal candidate will be skilled in mentoring staff, navigating budgetary responsibilities, and fostering strong relationships with families, professionals, and stakeholders across social care, education, health, and the voluntary sector. Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—are vital, as is the ability to challenge established practices creatively in pursuit of the best outcomes for children. The candidate will be adept at working independently and within a team, handling complex issues with sensitivity, and utilising technology and data systems effectively to support decision-making and service evaluation.
