Overview

It’s an exciting time to work in the nuclear industry; Frazer‑Nash is involved in many projects across the whole lifecycle of various nuclear facilities. The Nuclear Stations and Systems Team focuses on the civil nuclear industry, supporting developing sites, generating sites, and defueling/decommissioning sites.
Types of Work
* Technical requirements capture, optioneering, and specification authoring.
* Responsible for the design, manufacture, delivery, installation, and/or commissioning of plant items and systems, solving issues as they arise.
* Technical integration of design and safety case requirements.
* Authoring and verifying nuclear safety case proposals and key supporting documents.
* Walking down equipment at a nuclear site to ensure it remains qualified to meet functional safety requirements or identify means for its remediation.
* Performing qualitative or quantitative assessments (e.g., hazards, process safety, reactor physics, structural integrity) to determine risks and identify corrective actions.
* Specifying plans to retire and remove plant, systems, and structures to support safe, secure, and cost‑effective defueling, dismantling, and decommissioning.
* Embedded support within client teams on site.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute strategies to address intricate nuclear challenges.
* Produce high‑quality technical documentation to meet client demands.
* Apply the knowledge and experience across a range of nuclear technologies.
* Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to colleagues and clients.
* Manage projects, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality expectations.
* Seek out new business opportunities and generate proposals and bids.
* Establish and maintain enduring client relationships.
Essential Requirements
* A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
* Technical knowledge within a relevant field (e.g., mechanical, process, electrical engineering, C&I, numerical analysis, design, hazards, radiological protection, equipment qualification, severe accidents).
* At least 5 years’ experience in highly regulated and/or high hazard industries.
* Demonstrated ability in successful technical delivery.
* Proficient problem‑solving and collaboration skills.
* Clear and organized written and verbal communication.
* Desire to develop nuclear engineering skills.
* Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
Desirable Requirements
* Engineering Management / Project Engineer capability.
* Experience of operations, engineering, safety case development at nuclear sites.
* Experience of working in a consultancy environment.
* Proficiency in developing new business and maintaining client relationships.
* Project Management experience.
* Chartered (or working towards) with a professional institution.
