Package: £75,000 - £90,000 + 10% Bonus + 10% Shares + Benefits

About the role
As an AWS Senior Platform Engineer you will be a key contributor to Appvia’s platform engineering engagements, designing, building and operating secure, scalable AWS platforms. You will work closely with development teams, contribute to continuous improvement of cloud platforms and delivery pipelines, support both application and platform workloads, adopt modern DevOps practices, take ownership of technical delivery, contribute to solution design and mentor less experienced engineers.

Requirements
Must either hold active Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible for SC.
SC eligibility requires:
* British Passport or Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
* Resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years
* No criminal records
* No financial irregularities
About you
You are a strong AWS engineer with a background in cloud‑native infrastructure and DevOps, comfortable working in client‑facing environments and contributing directly to delivery.
* Hands‑on experience building and operating AWS platforms
* Solid understanding of modern CI/CD and automation practices
* Confidence collaborating with engineers, architects, and delivery leads
* A pragmatic approach to improving reliability, security, and developer experience
Key responsibilities
* Design, build and operate AWS‑based platform components aligned to best practices
* Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform
* Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, supporting faster and safer delivery
* Support containerised workloads using Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS
* Work closely with application teams to enable cloud‑native patterns and platform adoption
* Implement monitoring, logging and alerting to improve operational visibility
* Create reusable templates, modules and deployment patterns
* Contribute to continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability and security
* Support onboarding of new workloads and teams onto shared cloud platforms
* Share knowledge through code reviews, documentation and mentoring
Skills & experience
AWS Platform Engineering: Strong experience designing and operating AWS environments.
* Infrastructure as Code – Terraform experience essential; CloudFormation / CDK beneficial
* Containers – Experience with Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS
* CI/CD & DevOps – Solid understanding of Git‑based workflows, pipelines and automation
* Networking – Experience working with AWS networking constructs (VPCs, load balancing, connectivity)
Delivery & collaboration
* Experience delivering cloud migration, optimisation or platform initiatives
* Comfortable working in consulting or customer‑facing roles
* Able to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams
* A mindset of continuous learning and improvement
Qualifications
Certification in relevant cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) at an associate level is highly desirable.
* AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate
* AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty (highly desirable)
Certification in Kubernetes and Terraform administration is desirable.
* Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
* Terraform Associate
