We are seeking a Building Estimator to support a major education-sector client, operating across a complex, live campus estate.
This role will contribute to the successful delivery of capital works, lifecycle replacement, refurbishment, and minor building projects, supporting long-term estate transformation, sustainability objectives, and user experience within an academic environment.

L ocation: London Hours Per Week: Monday
- Friday 40hrs Job Type: Permanent Full Time The Building Estimator will support the delivery of building works across a large education campus, providing accurate, compliant, and value-driven cost estimates aligned with client expectations and public-sector governance requirements.
The role requires close collaboration with operational teams, supply chain partners, and client stakeholders to ensure estimates reflect the complexities of working within a live academic environment.
Key responsibilities include: Preparing detailed cost estimates for capital projects, refurbishment, lifecycle replacement, and minor building works Supporting delivery within a live campus estate, accounting for phasing, access constraints, decanting, and minimising disruption to teaching and research Undertaking site surveys and condition assessments to inform scope development and pricing Working with operational and client stakeholders to clearly define scope, constraints, and performance requirements Developing value-for-money solutions that balance cost, quality, programme, sustainability, and whole-life asset performance Inputting labour, materials, preliminaries, plant, and specialist subcontractor costs into estimating and cost-management systems Supporting bid, pricing, and delivery strategy development in conjunction with commercial and operational teams Participating in tender clarification, negotiation, and finalisation meetings Supporting cost planning for lifecycle and asset renewal programmes, aligned to long-term estate strategies Clearly identifying and documenting assumptions, exclusions, risk allowances, and contingencies Supporting risk reviews and advising on appropriate pricing strategy for risk and uncertainty Assisting with benchmarking, historic cost analysis, and continuous improvement of estimating data Engaging with the supply chain to validate pricing, buildability, and delivery viability Supporting pricing of variations, scope changes, and compensation events as required Providing estimating and cost input during mobilisation and early delivery phases This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the job title and the range of duties to be undertaken.

Specific tasks and objectiveswill be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals .
About You Essential Criteria NVQ Level 3 qualification in a construction-related trade or HNC/HND in Construction, Building Services, or Quantity Surveying, with at least two years experience in an estimating role Strong technical understanding of building fabric, M&E interfaces, and lifecycle works Experience using computer-based estimating or cost management systems, with strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills Ability to engage professionally with clients to understand service delivery and operational requirements Experience working within live operational environments, ideally within the public or education sector Desirable Criteria Experience working on education or public-sector estates Estimating experience across refurbishment, lifecycle, and minor works projects Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and low-carbon technologies Familiarity with NEC3 / NEC4, JCT, and GC Works contracts Understanding of mobilisation and transition within integrated FM and project delivery models Please note that Applicants will not be expected to meet any (or all) of the desirable criteria to be considered for interview.
