It focuses on leveraging data science, technology, and enterprise architecture to enhance UCAS' digital products and services. About the role Contractual Hours 35.00 About the role As part of the UCAS Business Intelligence and Reporting team, you’ll support the delivery of shaping UCAS data into useable self-serve outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences, through development of reporting pipelines and reports. You will build reports, often in PowerBI, to deliver UCAS data to key stakeholders, both internally and externally. You’ll have excellent numerate, analytical, and logical thinking skills, and a drive to find out things that really matter from data. Key Accountabilities: Support development and maintenance of UCAS’ BI platform, including dashboard creation, data flows, and governance. Collaborate with colleagues to define and refine PowerBI reporting requirements. Work with the Data Platform team to integrate new data sources and establish reporting needs. Transform Data Warehouse models into PowerBI-ready schemas. Build automated, interactive dashboards for internal and external use. Ensure live PowerBI products run effectively and evolve through analytical improvements. Develop strong understanding of UCAS data (education, performance, sales, etc.) Uphold and enhance BI standards across the team and business unit. Deliver sprint objectives set by the Principal Data Scientist. Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements. Present insights to internal stakeholders and senior management. Demonstrate data value to external customers through reporting and engagement Skills, qualifications, and experience Qualified to a high level in a numerate discipline, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, operational research, data science, or a related field – evidenced through a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) or demonstrable experience. A high level of interest in Business Intelligence and a capacity and willingness to learn is essential. A collaborative nature and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. A natural curiosity and drive to find things out that really matter from data. Some experience of coding in Python, SQL of other applicable language is preferable. Some experience of PowerBI and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) is preferable. A high level of numerate, analytical and logical thinking. Pick up new areas of work quickly, are unphased by challenges, and work at pace as a self-starter.
