Junior to Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services / MEP) London Borough of Croydon – Hybrid This Mechanical Design Engineer role is to join an established building services design consultancy with an excellent reputation and great friendly culture. Projects are varied and include commercial, residential, education and leisure. The overall purpose of the role is to work in a junior or intermediate level role within a mechanical and electrical building services team, providing design and technical advice on projects. As part of this skilled design team you will provide a professional and technical consulting and design service encompassing site surveys, feasibility studies, due diligence, design, technical reports and specifications, commissioning, and defects inspections. Responsibilities Working alongside senior engineers as part of a design team delivering detailed design Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams Attending a range of project group and technical meetings Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project Carrying out condition surveys and providing recommendation reports to clients Experience & Qualifications Minimum academic qualification of HNC or equivalent in building services or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of mechanical design within building services Thorough knowledge of statutory legislation and standards Seniority level
