About the role
As an Education Places Support Officer, you’ll help ensure Somerset’s schools have the right capacity and resources. You’ll manage and update key data systems, support planning for school places, and work closely with colleagues and school leaders.
Responsibilities
* Managing and developing data systems for recording and confirming school capacities.
* Database and records management for the School Organisation Planning.
* Producing reports to identify surpluses or shortfalls in school places.
* Supporting property and capital projects by maintaining records in property management systems.
* Engaging with stakeholders including colleagues, headteachers, governors and other local authorities.
* Responding to Freedom of Information requests and ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion.
Qualifications and experience
* NVQ or equivalent Level 3 including Maths or English, or comparable work‑related experience.
* Good working knowledge of IT systems and enthusiasm for new technologies.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to produce reports and arrange meetings.
Employment details
* Contract: Fixed Term, 18 months
* Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
* Location: Minimum 1–2 days per week at County Hall, with hybrid working options.
* Annual leave: 28 days + bank holidays, plus possibility to purchase additional leave.
* Salary: Grade 12, £28,598 – £32,061 per annum.
