HVDC & FACTS Field Service Engineer

You will manage multi‑year service contracts, lead onsite maintenance and commissioning activities, support customers across multiple countries, and collaborate with a global community of experts to deliver high‑technology power electronics solutions.
Job Overview
We are looking for a self‑motivated service engineer in power electronics able to manage service contracts, site activities and to support or participate in commissioning of FACTS & HVDC equipment.

Responsibilities
* Perform and lead maintenance, onsite activities and technical support on FACTS or HVDC transmission systems.
* Manage preparations for site activities in coordination with the end customer.
* Execute commissioning activities on FACTS or HVDC transmission systems.
* Lead the technical portion on service contracts running over several years.
* Attend and lead customer meetings, identify solutions that meet customer needs.
* Support minor renovation/upgrades of FACTS projects.
* Assist the ITO team during tenders for the technical part.
Technical Knowledge
* Experience with switching equipment, harmonic filters, and instrumentation transformers.
* Knowledge of FACTS equipment (Thyristor or IGBT) and rotating machines (plus).
* Experience with commissioning of protection relays.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting using network recorders and analyzers.
* Ability to resolve incidents on site, analyse logs and curves.
Abilities
* Strong commitment to EHS, strictly applying rules during incidents or under customer pressure.
* Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated problem‑analysis and solution skills.
* Ability to document, write reports, and plan site activities.
* Basic project‑management skills.
* Experience managing onsite teams.
* Excellent customer‑management skills, especially during incidents.
* Team player with a willingness to share knowledge and experience.
Required Qualifications
* Engineering degree or equivalent in power electronics.
* Demonstrated engineering background and technical understanding of power electronics.
* Relevant or identical position experience.
* Depth of experience with drives, FACTS, or HVDC equipment (valves, control, protections).
* Availability to travel up to 50% (potential 100% during training or short periods).
* Fluent in English.
* Valid UK driving license.
