The Role
As a Rotary Wing Flight Test Engineer at QinetiQ MOD Boscombe Down, you will deliver high quality instruction to flight test professionals and contribute to a culture of collaboration.
Responsibilities
* Deliver long‑course and short‑course ground instruction and in‑flight instruction to Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer students.
* Assess, grade, and report on ETPS student flying, provide mentoring and constructive debriefing to enhance flight safety and accelerate learning.
* Contribute to course development, modernise ETPS syllabuses, and drive continuous improvement.
Experience
* Broad and extensive experience within the flight test community.
* Ability to teach on the ground and instruct in the air; clarify complex subject matter for students of all nationalities.
* Sound knowledge of aircraft performance, systems and stability & control, together with skilled use of typical software for data analysis and reporting.
* Experience of the UK MoD Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
Qualifications
* Graduate Rotary Wing Flight Test Engineer from one of the four UK MoD‑recognised Test Pilot Schools (ETPS, USNTPS, USAFTPS, or EPNER) or equivalent.
* Engineering or Science degree with at least 3 years actively working as a LFTE or equivalent on modern rotary‑wing flight test programmes.
* Medically fit to gain a CAA Class 1 Medical.

Eligibility requires SC clearance, and a CAA Class 1 Medical. Applicants must be able to meet national security vetting and meet the minimum MM requirements.
Hours: 37 hours per week. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites expected.
