Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School is seeking a L3 Teaching Assistant who will work closely alongside the SENDCo to support children on the SEND register at our school.
About the School:
Mount Pleasant CE VC Junior School is an average sized junior school based in Market Weighton. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming, happy, safe and inclusive school as well as our strong Christian ethos, which underpins all that we do. We have high aspirations for every child and staff member and an expectation that they will excel and achieve their full potential. We aim to deliver this through our Christian distinctiveness, continuous development and family first approach.
About the Role:
The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively as part of the school team with teachers, Phase Leaders and the SENDCo to meet the personal, social and academic needs of pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and those who have fallen behind age-related expectations. It is imperative that the postholder is able to build positive, supportive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and the wider school community, whilst maintaining high expectations of themselves and the pupils they work with. This role will be pivotal in helping pupils who have social, emotional and or behavioural difficulties which act as a barrier to learning. A recruitment payment may be available for an excellent candidate.
The ideal candidate will be a patient and engaging practitioner who has a genuine passion for supporting children and working in partnership with our SENDCo and teaching staff in order to ensure the best outcomes for our children who will have access to the provision. You will have a calm and positive demeanour, the ability to break down activities into small step by step teaching and nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate our children. You will contribute to the school's Christian vision to create a safe, inclusive and happy school and promote our children to be creative, independent and reflective learners.
Job Requirements:
We require a motivated, flexible individual with a passion for supporting pupils with their education and social skills, able to work using their initiative and as part of a team to support the pupil's diverse range of needs. We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children within an Enhanced Resource Provision or similar capacity, has good verbal communication, strong time management and organisational skills. You will have the ability to build a good rapport with our children, parents and carers and the wider school community. Experience of working with children with a wide range of SEND needs is essential as the role will involve supporting children with EHCPs and children who are on the SEND register.
Safeguarding:
Mount Pleasant is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be subject to standard pre-employment checks (enhanced DBS check, online checks and references).
Online applications close on 1 September. Applications will be received at the school up until 9am on 2 September.
