Job Title- Product Owner, Energy Trading
MetDesk is embarking on a major transformation of our flagship Trading Weather product and API service. We are seeking a detail-oriented Product Owner to lead this journey.
This role has a dual focus:
· Supporting the complete rebuild of the Trading Weather product from the ground up, ensuring the new solution is modern, scalable, and customer-focused.
· Managing the existing product during the transition, overseeing backlog requests, bug fixes, and incremental improvements to maintain client satisfaction and confidence.
Reporting to the Head of Growth, you will help shape the future of our trading focused weather solutions, ensuring they deliver maximum value to customers in the energy and financial markets. This is a unique opportunity to influence the redesign of a core MetDesk product that underpins critical decision-making for our clients.
Key responsibilities
· Translate customer needs and product strategy into clear user stories, high level requirements, acceptance criteria, and deliverables.
· Support the full rebuild of the product, ensuring the new solution is modern, scalable, and customer focused.
· Oversee the existing product during the transition period, managing backlog requests, bug fixes, and incremental improvements for the Trading Weather product and API service to maintain client confidence.
· Work closely with the Head of Growth on market research, customer surveys, and competitor analysis to inform decision making.
· Use customer usage data, performance metrics, and feedback to drive product decisions and prioritisation.
· Act as the voice of the customer within the business, ensuring delivery aligns with client expectations and industry demands.
· Collaborate with the development teams to deliver robust and scalable product features.
· Define requirements that balance usability, performance, and data accuracy for an API-first product.
· Review completed work against acceptance criteria, ensuring quality and fit for purpose.
· Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders across MetDesk.

Required skills and experience
· Proven experience as a Product Owner in a SaaS, or API-driven product environment.
· Understanding of Agile/Lean practices (Scrum or Kanban).
· Experience writing clear, actionable user stories and managing backlogs.
· Ability to balance technical and commercial priorities, ideally with exposure to API services and/or data-heavy products.
· Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders alike.
· Analytical and customer-focused mindset, comfortable with feedback loops and iterative product design.
· Familiarity with energy trading, financial markets, or weather data products is highly advantageous.
