We are seeking a proactive and detail oriented Facilities Officer (Fire Safety) to join our Housing Fire Safety Team. This is a key role focused on ensuring that Sheffield City Council consistently meets all fire safety legislation, regulatory requirements and internal standards across its housing portfolio. About the Role
As a Facilities Officer, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the safety of our residents by quality assuring all fire safety arrangements and activities within the Housing service.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Carrying out site visits and inspections across housing properties to assess fire safety compliance
2. Gathering and reviewing evidence relating to fire safety measures and documentation
3. Identifying risks, gaps and areas for improvement
4. Producing clear, accurate and professional reports on findings and recommendations
5. Working collaboratively with teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance issues are addressed promptly
6. Supporting the organisation in maintaining a strong culture of safety, assurance and continuous improvement
About you:
We are looking for someone who:
7. Has an understanding (or willingness to develop knowledge) of fire safety legislation and compliance requirements
8. Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail
9. Can confidently conduct inspections and communicate findings clearly
10. Is able to produce high quality reports and provide practical recommendations
11. Is motivated, methodical and committed to improving safety standards
