Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking, with an eagerness to learn and grow within the hospitality industry. As a Commis, you will assist in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and safety are maintained.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes as directed by senior kitchen staff.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
* Support team management by collaborating effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
* Participate in food production activities, including chopping, marinating, and plating.
* Follow recipes and presentation specifications to deliver consistent quality dishes.
* Help supervise junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management to ensure timely replenishment of supplies.
* Uphold high standards of hygiene and sanitation throughout all food preparation processes.
Experience
* Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred, ideally within a restaurant setting.
* Culinary experience or formal training in hospitality is advantageous.
* Demonstrated knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
* A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn new techniques and cuisines.
