Job overview

As a Courier Driver you will be required to assist the Transport and Logistics Service with delivering a high quality Courier Service for the Trust.

You would cover primarily ad-hoc courier requests as allocated by the Courier Dispatcher throughout your shift which will therefore require you to be adaptable and flexible throughout the day. You will delivering and collecting from GP practices, renal units, community hospitals and other Trust sites in one of the Trust courier vans.

You may be required on occasion to support with the pre-planned courier runs and training will be provided for this.

You would wear a uniform which will be provided to you.

The post holder is expected to be punctual and also flexible regarding shift times in order to accommodate the service.

This role involves significant physical activity and manual tasks. Therefore, applicants should possess a level of physical fitness that allows them to perform these duties effectively and safely.

Main duties of the job

This would be including but not limited to:

·Transporting packages which include but not limited to pharmacy medications, medical records, mail, pathology items, samples, medical equipment etc.

·To obtain confirmation for the receipt of items delivered.

·Keeping accurate records of journeys and maintaining communication with line manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Operational Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. To carry out courier duties associated with the provision of Transport Services, and to undertake any other transport duties as may be scheduled or as directed by the Transport Service supervisory and managerial staff.
2. To deliver a fully comprehensive Courier Service to the Trust.
3. To collect and deliver general and medical samples and supplies throughout the Trust and other designated sites.
4. To support the Fleet Team with transporting vehicles off site for repairs on an ad hoc basis.
5. Working alongside the Fleet Team to complete a range of vehicle checks including but not limited to tyre pressure, oil and screen wash levels
6. To report any vehicle defects to the Fleet Team.
7. To report any equipment defects to the Fleet Team.
8. To ensure that your allocated vehicle is adequately stocked with essential consumables and to report any missing stock to the Fleet Team.
9. Work in line with all Policies and Procedures
10. To wear correct issued uniform, relevant Personal Protective Equipment and identity badges at all times following the Trust guidelines.
