Throughout London, Cancer Services are currently undergoing significant change, and Urology Diagnostic demand is increasing. As part of this, our Urology service is developing to meet the needs of a large, diverse population. This exciting opportunity aims to facilitate faster diagnosis for patients on a 28 day pathway by providing care and support for patients on suspected Cancer pathways. We are seeking individuals who can work alongside our nursing and medical colleagues in Urology to ensure optimum care for our patients.
Main duties
The main purpose of this role is to be an integral part of the team delivering the Faster Diagnostic service to the Urology pathway. The post holder will be involved with the professional running and contribute to clinical leadership and operational management of the Faster Diagnostic Services. The person will act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management and clinical responsibilities.
The role provides assessment of new suspected Urology cancer referrals, then forming an individual care plan for the patient. The role will follow these patients through their pathway until diagnosis or discharge. The responsible role holder will provide expert clinical advice working with the cancer referrals office and cancer performance team to ensure 28 day Faster Diagnostic Standard is met.
