The Role As a Commercial Controller, youll take ownership of a key strategic business unit, leading commercial performance across major retail accounts.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, youll set the strategic direction for your team, drive profitable growth, and ensure strong collaboration across functions and customers alike.
Youll be accountable for full P&L performance, joint business planning, and customer relationship management, while fostering a high-performing team culture built on accountability, insight, and innovation.
What Youll Do Lead, coach, and develop a commercial team — setting clear KPIs and driving performance.
Manage major grocery retail accounts, owning full P&L responsibility across brands and categories.
Develop and deliver annual Joint Business Plans that align with both customer and company objectives.
Build and nurture strong relationships with senior stakeholders — internally and externally.
Champion customer insight across the business, ensuring strategies are customer-led and commercially focused.
Lead cross-functional initiatives, including NPD, category growth, and go-to-market strategy.
Oversee financial governance, forecasting accuracy, and revenue planning.
Develop and implement category and marketing plans that drive sales, margin, and market share.
About You Youre an experienced commercial leader with a proven track record in managing major grocery retail accounts and delivering brand and product growth.
You thrive in fast-paced environments, combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership, and know how to get the best out of people.
Essential Experience & Skills: 5 years at National Account Manager level or above, ideally in FMCG.
Proven success with at least one top UK grocery multiple.
Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Excellent communicator, confident presenter, and strategic thinker.
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
Highly analytical and results-driven with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility to travel as required.
Desirable : Experience as a Commercial or Sales Controller in FMCG.
Background in chilled or fresh food categories.
Understanding of category management and NPD processes.
Degree-level education preferred but not essential.
