Overview
We're looking for Roadworker/trainee LGV drivers to be part of our team undertaking all aspects of highways maintenance and improvement works, including road resurfacing, patching, drainage, structures work and sign replacement within Derbyshire. Initially this will be on a fixed term basis (18 months from start date) with an opportunity for progression on to a permanent basis pending the successful completion of LGV driver and other post related training. You'll also be part of a mandatory rota to deliver emergency services and winter maintenance (gritting and snow clearing), outside normal working hours, for which you'll receive additional pay. Using a range of vehicles and specialist plant and equipment the work includes drainage, road resurfacing, manhole construction, kerbing works, fencing, flag and block laying, structural concreting and patching.
Responsibilities
* Undertake highways maintenance and improvement works as part of the Derbyshire Highways team, including road resurfacing, patching, drainage and structures work.
* Carry out sign replacement, kerbing, fencing, and manhole construction as required.
* Operate a range of vehicles and specialist plant and equipment with safety and quality as a priority.
* Contribute to emergency services and winter maintenance duties (gritting and snow clearing) as part of a mandatory rota, including out-of-hours work with additional pay.
* Assist with traffic management and ensure traffic flows safely and efficiently.
Qualifications
* A full driving licence (car as a minimum).
* Experience in highways maintenance and construction services.
* The ability to work safely and competently to meet performance and quality standards; maintain good relationships with all stakeholders including the public; keep traffic flowing.
