Role Overview
A Legal500, Leading law firm is looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Immigration Level 2 Solicitor / Director for a permanent position with the ability to manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers.
The firm serves corporate entities and private individuals in over 25 practice areas throughout London, England and Wales, and is recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a top‑tier firm.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to ensure performance targets are met
* Responsible for all aspects of Immigration work, providing technical expertise and guidance to team members
* Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and Caseworkers to match appropriate caseload types and complexities
* Assist with delivery of training and development within the department
* Handle a range of Immigration work including detained clients, victims of trafficking & torture, asylum work from initial applications through to Tribunal and higher Court appeals, entry clearance applications and appeals, and some judicial review work
* Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
* Draft documents including witness statements and process evidence
* Prepare applications to meet Home Office requirements (including drafting application forms, indices of documents and letters of representation)
* Attend conferences and court proceedings
* Maintain a professional, pro‑active approach, strong client care skills and interest in Business Development and Marketing to supplement the substantial work volumes brought in by the company
Key Skills Required
* Must hold a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of application
* Registered with the Law Society Immigration & Asylum Law Accreditation – Level 2 membership
* Committed and highly driven to provide an excellent standard of service to clients
* Strong management skills and ability to foster a culture of positive change and cross‑referrals
* Previous proven supervisory experience and ability to work to key performance indicators
* Excellent client care skills and ability to handle vulnerable client matters sensitively and resolve complex practicalities
* Excellent networking and communication skills, able to market the company and generate new business
* Working knowledge of publicly funded Immigration work and ability to service privately funded cases
* Extensive experience in all Immigration related work and some expertise in adoption matters
* Experience in own advocacy is an advantage
* Excellent IT skills – familiar with Microsoft Office applications and document management
