As Materials Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials across multiple residential developments, ensuring projects are supplied efficiently, on time, and within budget.
You will work closely with commercial, site, and technical teams, playing a key role in maintaining cost control and supporting the successful delivery of projects.
Responsibilities
* Procuring construction materials in line with build programmes
* Obtaining and analysing supplier quotations to secure best value
* Placing and managing purchase orders
* Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
* Monitoring material costs and identifying savings opportunities
* Coordinating with site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials
* Resolving any supply or quality issues
* Maintaining accurate procurement records and cost data
* Supporting the wider commercial team with cost control and reporting
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a Materials Buyer role within construction
* Proven experience working for a housebuilder or residential developer
* Strong knowledge of construction materials and procurement processes
* Ability to negotiate effectively and manage supplier relationships
* Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills
* Excellent organisation and communication skills
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites/projects
