Position description
Job title: Associate Director - Design Manager
Contract type: Permanent
Business context: Egis is a global consulting and engineering firm working in construction, transport, and mobility sectors. In the UK, we deliver iconic projects that connect people, protect the environment, and meet emission reduction targets, working with clients such as airports, governments, and transport operators.
Core responsibilities:
* Establish Egis UK Engineering Design Centre (EDC) strategy and team management structure for transportation.
* Manage personnel including engineers, BIM managers, coordinators, and specialists for engineering design deliverables.
* Lead the design team and oversee technical aspects of interdisciplinary coordination.
* Review design documentation for compliance and standards adherence.
* Implement and evaluate rail industry standards to ensure quality.
* Coordinate activities of the design team and liaise with clients.
* Manage quality of sub-system deliverables and maintain project consistency.
* Develop team competencies through assessments, reviews, training, and mentoring.
* Support efficient processes for system safety, verification, validation, and assurance.
BIM Management & Development:
* Define and implement Egis BIM/Digital Strategy and ISO accreditation.
* Develop BIM execution plans and digital strategies.
* Manage BIM processes, protocols, and data management.
* Coordinate project modelling and GIS/3D modelling interfaces.
Profile
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Extensive experience in engineering/technical functions, with at least 5 years as a Design or BIM Manager in major infrastructure projects.
* Proven ability in managing design interfaces and digital strategies.
* Experience in engineering production environments, with a railway, transportation, or construction background.
* Good knowledge of UK design standards (Network Rail, HS2, TfL).
* Experience in implementing BIM Level 2 accreditation and ISO certification.
Desirable qualifications:
* BSc or similar degree in a scientific or engineering field.
* Chartered Engineer status.
* Knowledge of rail engineering regulations and scripting skills.
