ABOUT LMCC

LMCC is Manhattan’s Arts Council—a dynamic non-profit organization with a 50 year history of supporting and connecting artists and communities throughout Manhattan.

Founded in 1973, LMCC serves hundreds of artists and tens of thousands of audiences each year through robust re‑granting and artist residency programs as well as a dynamic calendar of free public art events throughout Manhattan and at the Arts Center at Governors Island—a 40,000 square foot arts center that is activated year round with public programs and art exhibitions.

They are a 15‑person team of passionate and devoted arts leaders and administrators, providing funding, studio and rehearsal space, professional development, and leadership in cultural planning and advocacy. All activities and operations are supported by a $6M budget and the leadership of an engaged Board of Directors.


WHO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR

LMCC seeks a full‑time Grant Manager to join the development team to manage the grant workflow and work collaboratively to pursue public/private funding opportunities and partnerships for sustainable growth. The Grant Manager will work to sustain an institutional giving portfolio and identify new strategies to support organizational growth through foundation, government and corporate support.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial and energetic storyteller, with an understanding of the challenges arts and culture organizations are currently facing and a proven track record of creating competitive proposals. The position reports to the Director of Development.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* The Grant Manager is responsible for the following, in addition to any other projects and duties as assigned:
* Foundation, Government, and Corporate Funding
* Maintain LMCC’s grants calendar for foundation, government, and corporate grants.
* Conduct ongoing prospect research for foundation, corporation, and government prospects.
* Serve as the primary researcher, writer, and editor of submissions with an eye to ensuring the timely submission of inquiry letters, proposals, and reports to foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
* Collect the necessary programmatic information and clarifying questions or specifics related to the development of a proposal from relevant LMCC program staff.
* Gather data about LMCC’s activities to report on key program and organization metrics.
* Work closely with the President, Director of Development, and Artistic Programs team to manage the cultivation and stewardship of current and prospective institutional donors.
* Manage the creation of program / project budgets and expense reports for proposals and funding reports.


Financial, Data, and Compliance Management

* Manage the contracting and compliance process to be eligible for and/or receive foundation, government, and corporate funding.
* Maintain LMCC’s institutional giving accounts in Salesforces.
* Generate weekly, monthly, and semi‑annual funding reports to share with leadership.
* Maintain administrative systems in relevant areas, including vendor and partner database records and files.


Department and Organizational‑Wide Support

* Support the development in the administration of an annual Gala and other cultivation events throughout the year.
* Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create pitch decks and other supplemental materials for soliciting institutional funders and demonstrating impact.
* Serve as support staff for organization‑wide events including The Downtown Dinner, Manhattan Community Arts Breakfast, River to River Festival, Open Studios, and other programming and cultivation events as needed.


COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is $66,300 and includes an attractive benefits package including health coverage, dental and optional vision plans, life insurance, and generous PTO. Additionally, LMCC has fifteen (15) paid holidays inclusive of closing the office between Christmas and New Years Day. Health benefits begin three (3) months after the first date of employment.

They maintain a hybrid work schedule, generally requiring Tuesday & Thursday in‑office at the Arts Center at Governors Island with remote work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is an exempt position and will require night and weekend availability.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Minimum 3 years’ experience in grant writing and prospect research, preferably with a cultural institution, or equivalent professional experience.
* Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
* Excellent organizational and verbal skills, and facility with budgets. Ability to compile, report and analyze information succinctly.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritizing work and managing multiple, diverse, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
* Ability to interface with program officers, community leaders, politicians, and business professionals. Knowledge of the NYC funding community is a plus.
* Proficiency using Google Workplace, Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
* Experience with Salesforce (preferred).
