About the Role
The Service Manager plays a pivotal role in the leadership, growth, and development of our domiciliary care services across Scotland. This operational role is accountable for ensuring the safe, high-quality, and compliant delivery of home care services for older adults.
This role will lead the day-to-day management of service delivery, ensure compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements, and take full responsibility for people management across operational teams. A key priority of the post will be driving strategic and sustainable growth of Carestaff At Home across Scotland, identifying opportunities to expand services and enhance our reach in local communities.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Service Management
• Lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care.
• Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure continuity, efficiency, and high standards.
• Hold accountability for Care Inspectorate compliance and the Health & Social Care Standards.
• Lead workforce planning, rotas, and operational decision-making.
• Implement systems for performance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.
Regulatory & Compliance Accountability
• Maintain robust processes for audits, risk management, incident reporting, and policy adherence.
• Ensure accurate, compliant record-keeping across the service.
• Lead preparation for Care Inspectorate inspections and deliver improvement actions.
People Leadership & Team Development
• Manage and develop the operational team, fostering a positive, high-performing culture.
• Oversee recruitment, training, supervision, and performance management.
• Build strong relationships across carers, coordinators, and support teams.
Growth, Development & Community Engagement
• Identify and implement growth opportunities across Scotland.
• Build relationships with local authorities, commissioners, community groups, and partners.
• Support tendering, service expansion, and mobilisation of new packages or areas.
• Drive innovation to enhance service quality and reach.
Skills & Experience Required
• Leadership experience in social care or health, ideally domiciliary care.
• Strong knowledge of Scottish regulatory frameworks.
• Proven success managing multi-site or regional operations.
• Experience in compliance, audits, quality assurance, and improvement planning.
• Excellent people leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Compassionate, person-led leadership approach.
• Relevant qualification preferred (e.g., SVQ 4/5, RMA, Registered Manager Award).
