Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is recruiting four Education Fellows starting from 5th August 2026 for a period of one year.
The fellows facilitate the delivery of high-quality education and teaching of medical students and other colleagues at East Surrey Hospital. The fellows collaboratively develop, plan, coordinate and deliver a wide range of teaching activities; the peak times of student attendance is between August – March.
East Surrey Hospital Has Undergraduate Medical Students From Four Medical Schools – Brighton & Sussex Medical School, St Georges University London, Imperial College And University Of Surrey. The Medical Students Come Throughout The Year And Have Placements In
Medicine (AMU/ Care of Elderly/ Diabetes/ Endocrinology/ Rheumatology/ Respiratory)
Surgery (Upper GI/ Lower GI/ Breast)

Paediatrics
Mental Health
Primary Care
Emergency Medicine
Anaesthetics and Critical Care
The role will require you to work with our undergraduate sub deans and medical education officer to contribute to the design and development of teaching materials and induction. You will design appropriate teaching including the timetable for all medical students, considering both classroom and bedside teaching to meet all objectives of the students and their placements.
You will also support our undergraduate ultrasound leads, in the delivery of ultrasound education and the work of our simulation team.
The post will be split as 70% education and 30% service with the department of your choice. Funding will be available for successful applicants to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education through a university agreed between you and the Director of Medical Education. Time allowance to attend the course will be included in the timetable.
The post will enable you to spend the year pursuing clinical areas of interest as well as education; this has facilitated the successful application of previous fellows into higher training posts.
The successful applicant will have great organisational skills and have a passion for teaching undergraduate students in NHS clinical placements.
