Network Technician – Derbyshire Environmental Waste Networks Team
The Network Technician will work in the Derbyshire Environmental Waste Networks Team based at Raynesway office. The role is primarily focused on proactive and reactive maintenance of the sewer network. Key duties include inspecting combined sewer overflows, non‑return valves, air valves, siphons and oil interceptors, assisting with customer investigations and misconnection surveys, and supporting technical experts. The position requires a standard driving licence (C1 or Class 2 preferred) and proficiency with laptops and phones for job recording.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
* Lead and promote a safe working environment whilst ensuring quality standards are met.
* Identify and clearly define necessary remedial or improvement works to ancillary assets.
* Proactively seek and develop opportunities to mitigate the risk of network failures, including implementation of agreed measures.
* Investigate and respond to non‑urgent customer service issues or queries until full resolution.
* Investigate and respond to non‑urgent enquiries or defect reports from the Highways Authority, Environment Agency and Local Authorities.
* Work in close partnership with contract field workers to ensure overall delivery of company targets and objectives.
Working hours and rotation
The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00‑16:00 and Friday 8:00‑15:30, with a compulsory shared standby rota that includes evenings and weekends. Overtime may be available.
Qualifications and skills
