Job Title: Home to School Travel Assistant
Location: Various - to schools attended by Children from within the City
Contract Details: Temporary, Part Time
Shift Times: 7am to 9am and 2pm to 4pm (Split Shift)
Availability: Monday to Friday; Term time only
Salary: £12.85 per hour

Responsibilities
* Safely accompany children with special educational needs to and from school.
* Ensure children's welfare, discipline, and appropriate behaviour during transit.
* Physically assist with lifting immobile and disabled children, including handling wheelchairs and car seats.
* Liaise with vehicle drivers to coordinate transport arrangements.
* Maintain accurate records of passengers and report any incidents or accidents.
* Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and Travel Unit Officers.
* Attend mandatory training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience)
* Current recognised Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
* Experience caring for children, particularly those with special educational needs.
* Strong communication skills to engage with parents and school staff.
* Ability to comply with health and safety policies and procedures.
* Competence in record keeping and reporting.
Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience)
* Familiarity with handling wheelchairs and specialised equipment.
* Previous experience in a similar role or working in a care environment.
* Understanding of the importance of child safeguarding and welfare.
Technologies
* Familiarity with basic office software for record keeping and communication.
* Knowledge of transport safety equipment and protocols.
